This is such a novel way to play bingo – it might even make you giggle in disbelief. This crazy new idea of a bingo drive-in has come out of Ireland and has been spurred on by the frustration of the smoking ban on some addicted bingo & cigarette fans!
County Meath is the very first area in Ireland to open its doors on a drive-in bingo hall, where the punters parks their cars in a car park, switch of their engines and purchase their bingo tickets.
Other than that – everything else is the same, there is a bingo caller of course and refreshments! When someone scores a “Bingo” rather than yell at the top of their lungs - they simply hoot their horn and give a wave before the prize is delivered to their car!
County Meath's drive-in bingo organiser Seamus Davis says, “It’s a great laugh and the reaction has been so positive. It works as an idea because you can relax in your own car with your friends, smoke if you want to, and not worry about parking. We think it will catch on and with any luck make an appearance throughout Ireland.”
Could this idea make it big in the UK? Potentially, during the warmer seasons, and perhaps as a novelty, there could be a few events, but during the colder months, why leave your central heated home when you can still play great bingo at the likes of
William Hill,
Foxy or
Tombola!
