If you’re of the single variety (divorced/recently dumped/single because you want to be), you may find this whole Valentines Day lark utterly nauseating and a pain up the proverbial!
In fact, even to some of us here in the office who happen to be happily married/in love, Valentines Day is a holiday that makes some of us cringe ! Shouldn’t every day be a day when you show your love in some way – albeit small?
Going out for dinner on Valentines day feels something like a school prom, everyone paired up, and sporting the customary red rose.
Of course, being single and say recovering from a split, Valentines Day can bring out the bitterness in you. But fear not! We have some fun ways of tackling the resentment:
1. Look at all your friends who say they are ‘happily’ married and imagine yourself in their shoes. Take the courage to say to yourself that being your own boss is much more fun, and buy yourself a present that YOU like, on your way home, picking yourself up a bunch of roses knowing the world is yours and you have no need to comprimise!
2. Find other single friends and go all-out on a fab night together…celebrate your life and the lovely friends you have in it!
3. Pamper yourself and know that the year ahead is yours for the taking, that you don’t know what lies around the corner but that it is bound to be a surprise!
4. If none of those help, trip-up the next smug flower-bearing woman who skips by proudly displaying her blooms and trample on them before going home and settling in for the night with a face-pack and bingo!
