A fun look at the top 5 internet searches of 2009

You can surmise something of a year by looking at any aspect of it, be it political, cultural, sociological (that’s a long word for us here at Bingolines!) and somewhere, you will surely find a thread that travels in-between linking events and occurances one to the other…

But we don’t want to do that! Instead, a glance at a popular search engine site gives us a fun review of the drivel that has tantalized the masses during 2009 through an expose of their Top 5 internet searches!

1.Pop Legend – Michael Jackson
Of course, 2009 will always – among other things – be remembered as the year that the King of Pop met his tragic end. A huge public display of trans-global mourning brought Michael Jackson ‘the legend’ back to the public’s consciousness’ which had in recent years been consumed with tabloid depictions of Wacko-Jacko.

2. The Twilight Saga – The Series
Big hit in the US, the Twilight Saga series written by a Mormon Housewife tells the teeny tale of romance between a school kid and vampire. The stories were originally written in 4 books before being brought to the screens backed by a top soundtrack, publicity drive and sultry-looking cast the girls and boys alike went beserk for. The second installment, New Moon launched in 2009 placed the saga at number 2!

3. WWE (World Wresting Entertainment)
Firmly apart of the cultural offering for years now, the WWE drama is not confined to the wresting arena alone! Adults & children simply love the characters and 2009 mourned the death of Captain Lou Albano - a big WWE Star. One of the figureheads of the WWE empire (Linda McMahon) recently resigned from her position as CEO to focus on running her campaign as a Republican candidate to the Senate.

4. Megan Fox - celebrity starlet
Miss Fox Came to our attention in 2009 thanks to the Transformers film. Utterly gorgeous and supremely arrogant, Megan got on the wrong side of Angeline Jolie after a comparison made between the two stars was taken impolitely. Humbleness prevailed, and after box-office flop of Jennifer’s Body, Miss Fox came back in favor with her tail between her legs. We’re pretty confident it’s her smokin’ sex appeal alone that earns her her place at No.4

5.Britney Spears - Pop Princess
For the previous 4 years, the troubled princess of pop Britney was the No.1 search. I am sure she graciously bow’s out to Michael Jackson though! In any case, 2009 sees the re-launch of a more reasonable, level-headed and some might say shrewd Britney. The Circus tour of 2009 marked her comeback and the subsequent hits of the album are repairing any damage to her bank account! Go Britney!
